Ecola Alumni Campout in Sisters, Oregon
Hello from Cannon Beach! Weather is FINALLY improving here on the coast. We hope that this letter finds you doing well and enjoying your summer.
It's time to start planning for the Alumni camp-out in August! This will be a relaxed, informal weekend designed as a time for renewal, refreshment and reconnecting with old friends. In true Ecola tradition the schedule will be flexible as well as fun. The dates are August 14-17, 2008 and we will be camping at Sisters Community Church in Sisters, Oregon, one of the most beautiful spots in the state. We hope that you will be able to join us!
For those who have never been to this part of Oregon before, you will find plenty to do and explore. There are numerous hiking and biking trails in the area as well as plenty of sunshine for those who just want to relax and visit. You can do some climbing at Smith Rock, fish the Metolious River, or float the Deschutes. If you want to just chill, you can wander through the shops in Sisters. If you would like to find out more about the area, check out this web site:
www.sistersoregonguide.com. It will give you a better idea of what to expect.
We will be camping behind the church in a baseball field, which is surrounded by a few trees. This may sound a bit strange, but it provides a convenient location for our tents and camping gear, and its conveniently close to town. The site has a water source, outhouses (remember this is camping :0) ), and plenty of soft grass where you can pitch your tent. You may want to bring tarps for shade; it can get very hot during the day. You will need to provide your own camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, cook stove, pans, utensils, flashlight, cooler, lawn chairs, etc.) as well as your own food. You may want to call a few friends and go together on meals and combine camping equipment. There are also grocery stores and restaurants nearby.
We will meet there on Thursday afternoon/evening and pack up early Sunday afternoon. However, you are welcome to come/leave at any point during the weekend. Click to view a
rough schedule for the weekend as well as
directions to the church. If you are planning to attend, please fill out the enclosed form and return it to us or just e-mail the information to us at
info@ecola.org. This will help us as we prepare for the weekend.
"And how much," you may ask, "will such a great 4 Day/3 Night adventure cost me?" You can come for all - or part - of the weekend for FREE! Just bring your own camping stuff, food, a Bible, and yourself. So come, catch up with old friends, play and enjoy the Lord with us!
