A post-war boomer who grew up in the euphoria of "We are the Champions..." "we showed Hitler who's boss" 1950's America. Understood the seriousness of sin and the peril of the unregenerate state while still young and so gladly responded to God's grace and forgiveness. Typical childhood, nuclear family and all, we moved a lot. Uneventful and lackluster high school and college experience... then went to Bible School in Europe, a life changing year. Eventually finished with a Masters in Counseling. Met and later married my lovely Drenda, next to Himself, the best thing God ever brought into my life. Really! Drenda & I have been married 30 something years and have three grown children and 3 grandchildren. We love life together, our family, and serving God.

Why I like Ecola: What will matter in the end is truth and how we individually respond to it. Further, the way we live our lives and most of the choices we make will ultimately trace back to what we believe to be true. This is important stuff. Foundational. Ecola is a place where a person can step out of the frenetic pace of modern life and take time to search for truth and answers to the big questions of life. Here students can consider the truth claims of Scripture and the Christian faith in an undistracted and supportive environment, and develop or deepen a personal relationship with God. In the process, great friendships are built and a real sense of community develops. All of this in the beautiful setting of the rugged north Oregon coast. Come visit and see for yourself! Dislikes: I love butter. I dislike not being able to consume more.

Favorite Coffee House Beverage: Definitely Italian roast, ground fine for espresso.

David and I have been at Ecola for nearly 20 years now. I love the Bible, so it's great being involved in a school that focuses on its message.

Once our children were finally grown and had finished college, I thought it would be a good time to return to college and work on an art degree. Thanks to my husband's loving support and with the Lord's help and guidance, I was able to take four years off and concentrate on studying, finally managing a BA in Art/Art History in 2009. Now besides working in a supportive role at Ecola, I am a professional artist.

Like many of our students here, I was raised in a loving Christian home, and entrusted my life to God at a very young age. I was a privileged child in the spiritual sense: witnessing my parents' vital faith as they led the ministry of Ecola through my formative years. With my two sisters, I experienced the full range of public, private and home schooling, and after graduation road tripped to Colorado to study the Bible (and backcountry snowboarding). That year of immersion in the Bible is counted as the most critical year of my lifelong pursuit of education. I later moved to British Columbia, where I earned my bachelors in philosophy at Trinity Western University. I will soon be completing a Masters in Biblical Studies at Multnomah Biblical Seminary.

Days after graduating from college, I ran into my high school sweetheart Joy (who graduated from Ecola about ten years ago) at the premier of Spiderman. We've been married for over seven years and have two beautiful children, Nora and Owen, and number three is due this winter! We're an active family, and we love the opportunity we have to serve and grow in the exciting and life-changing ministry of Ecola. We live North of Cannon Beach with our dog Lulu, cat Marty (a Spartan tabby who could eat Kyle's Golden Retriever for breakfast), our three goats Hank, Penny and Jasper, and five fancy chickens.

About Me: After living 21 years on the East Coast and attending college and working various jobs I found myself feeling stagnant and unsatisfied. I know that God brought me to Ecola to open my eyes to what the Christian life is and to experience living out a personal relationship with Him. Since that time he has enabled me to stay and work with Ecola Bible School through their internship program and on full-time staff with the men's ministry. I feel privileged to be part of this program and that God has taken me down this path. While I'm not around campus, I like to get away and hang out in the woods, spend some time fishing in a river, or chilling around a bonfire. An exciting new undertaking of mine is raising and training a beautiful Golden Retriever named Ember.

Why I love Ecola: I love the relational aspect of Ecola. With a smaller student body you can really make lifelong friendships and take advantage of hanging out with the staff and professors. You get to experience God's Word lived out in a colorful community and grow together with one common goal in mind, become more like Jesus. The location of the school is also amazing! With countless hiking trails, lush forests, and rugged coastline you can really get away and experience God's Creation and play in it too!

Books that Changed How I Live/Favorites: Becoming God's True Woman, For Women Only, Authentic Beauty.

Hobbies/Interests: Camping, camp fires with friends, hiking, rollerblading, and running. I am also working on my old women sport of golf as I look to needing a sport I can play all my life. Love me some good coffee shops to study and talk to people.

Dislikes: PCs, lima beans, pork, traffic, cats and dogs that act/look like cats, smelly feet.

Favorite Coffee House Beverage: Black coffee. It's cheap and good.

I grew up most my life on a farm in Ohio with a few years break in sunny South Carolina. I am the oldest of four children. In high school I was somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none. I played softball, was in school plays, played trumpet in the marching band, and showed beef steers in the 4-H/FFA. After high school I went to Cedarville University where I graduated with a degree in Secondary Social Studies Education in 2004. I moved to Virginia Beach after college, where I taught and coached before moving two years ago to Fairfax, Virginia. I love teaching, but my passion is in camping ministries. I have been able to work 6 summers at Lake Ann Camp Michigan and last summer at Victory Bible Camp in Alaska. Lord willing, I will finish my Masters Degree in Counseling this spring from Liberty University. I am thankful for how God has pursued me throughout my life. He has taught me more about Himself through a variety of amazing and creative means. He has led my steps through a beautiful hike of life experiences that have placed me perfectly where I am today. I would have never picked this trail on my own, but He has perfectly crafted a trail leading me to the places, experiences, and ministries where He would have me as He prepares me along the way. I am excited for where the next steps will lead.

Why I like Ecola: I am excited to be here this year! The staff is amazing, and it is great to see people who are authentically and actively pursuing their walk with the Lord. The joy that each of them have from serving in various aspects of ministry is a lot of fun. It is an added blessing being in the Cannon Beach area. Amazing sunsets and tons of outdoor activities. I am excited about the chance to get to know students and encourage them as they take the next step in their walk with the Lord.

Hobbies/Interests: Camping with my family, hiking, running, reading, the beach (especially hot beaches and stormy beaches), people watching, and sitting in a coffee shop on a rainy day having a solid conversation with a good friend!

Dislikes: Animals in general (especially birds), folding my laundry, lima & kidney beans.

Hi! My name is Tina Eilers and I'm the Office Manager for Ecola. I grew up in Sumner, WA and I'm the youngest of 8 kids. I loved growing up in a big family and wouldn't trade it for the world!

After high school I attended Green River Community College, then Washington State University. After teaching elementary school for a year, I attended Ecola Bible School, then remained on staff at Ecola after my student year. I've worked at Ecola since 1998 and love working with college students!

One of my favorite things about working here is having the opportunity to interact with men and women who have chosen to set aside a year of their lives to dig into God's Word in order to know Christ better. John 5:39-40 states that, "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life." My desire, and the hope of the staff, is for students to come to Ecola and to dig deep into the Word of God - not for the sake of knowledge, but for the sake of knowing - knowing Christ.

Dislikes: Lentils (except for in a Moroccan soup), lima beans, people stealing my cookie dough, dirty nails, gum.

Hello, my name is Diana Ryan and I am the Administrative Assistant to the Directors here at Ecola Bible School. I grew up in Wasilla, Alaska and was raised in a loving family of nine. I am the middle child, with three older and three younger siblings, and I LOVED growing up in a big family. My parents home schooled me starting from kindergarten on and once I graduated from high school, I came down to Oregon and attended Ecola. It was a big change to live apart from my family and to be so far away, but I couldn't have come to a better place! After graduating from Ecola, I took part in the internship program that was offered at the time and developed friendships that will last through the distance and years to come. I am very thankful for my "Ecola Family". The spring of '09 I was offered and accepted a job to work full time in the office as permanent staff, and I haven't looked back since! :) The Ecola office is a wonderful and fun environment to work in, and I am very blessed to be here.

Why I like Ecola: Ecola's ministry to students is very unique and, in my opinion, very beneficial to the lives of all who attend with a teachable heart. It is a perfect place to get "grounded" in your relationship with your Heavenly Father and the "family" type atmosphere offers a safe place for students. The beach being right down the street (literally) is also a nice plus for our students! :) I am immensely thankful that the Lord has me at this ministry for the time being, and I strive to live each day simply for Him.

Things I like: Photography, hiking, camping, traveling, cooking, reading, coffee, adventuring, and the list goes on.

Something unique about me: I grew up in the country with a generator as our main power source and kerosene lamps. We finally had power lines on the property by the time I was in ninth grade. I first came to Ecola as a student in 1999 after deciding I wasn’t quite ready to settle down to a career. This Bible school was an ideal place to take some time out from the working world and become more focused on getting to know God more purposefully. The experience left me with a more established faith, many long time friends, a more realistic worldview, and a clearer understanding of God’s purpose for my life. Upon going home I found that going to Ecola had helped strengthen my trust in God as I re-entered the sometimes discouraging and stressful working world. I appreciated my Ecola experience so much that I wanted to be a part of this ministry so I came back to be an intern in 2002. That small leadership role had given me more interpersonal skills that prepared me to tackle some sometimes difficult jobs back home in Yakima with a confidence and security in Christ that really changed my life. Over the years, many visits and many weddings I attended for Ecola friends have kept the school fresh in my mind and on my heart. When the opportunity to come back to Ecola as a Business Manager arrived I was ready. I am so excited to again be a part of this ministry that God has blessed and I especially look forward to witnessing God's work in the lives of each student.
